An Evening With Ann & Steve Toon
Ann and Steve Toon are a UK-based, husband and wife team of award-winning professional wildlife photographers with a passion for the wildlife and wild places of Southern Africa.
After giving up previous jobs as journalists and editors, Ann and Steve chose a six-month sabbatical in the bush and have been photographing there for the last two decades.
“Africa has been life-changing for us: our very first visit to its game reserves inspired us to change tack completely and begin this exciting photographic journey. We’ve never looked back”.
We’ve got to know Southern Africa pretty well in that time, although it still remains an infinitely compelling and fascinating place. Which is good news, as we now spend four or five months a year in the bush, leading specialist photographic safaris to some of Africa’s top wildlife destinations and pursuing our own photographic projects. Africa is our first love and second home”.
When Ann and Steve are not in the bush you can find them in a remote corner of North-east England, where they live in Northumberland National Park.
The Toon’s ever-expanding portfolio of quality images are sold around the world. They are represented by a number of leading photographic agencies and also provide complete packages of words and pictures for a wide range of editorial clients, on subjects including photography, travel, natural history and conservation. They have three books published, run a small number of photo workshops in the UK and in addition give talks and presentations at photographic clubs and events.
